Michael is an award winning and dedicated attorney focusing on tax controversy, compliance and planning. Michael vigorously advocates for clients through all levels of the IRS (Exam, Appeals, US Tax Court) as well as the Illinois Department of Revenue (Audit, Fast Track Resolution, Tax Tribunal). Michael has also litigated and settled tax matters against the Department of Justice.
Michael has been selected to the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, 2023 and 2024 Illinois Rising Stars List as a Top-Rated Tax Attorney and has previously served as the Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Federal Tax Committee.
Michael attended law school at the Chicago-Kent College of Law and earned his LL.M. in Taxation (with a certificate in International Taxation) from Georgetown University.
When not practicing law, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters around the Chicagoland area. Michael hopes to pass on his love of sports to his children, and has enjoyed coaching his oldest daughter’s baseball team (even donning White Sox attire!) and supported his youngest daughter’s ambition as a tap, jazz and ballet star!
